Google has started rolling out Automated Promotions in Google Ads. From 12 October 2026, Google scans your website for offers and discounts and adds them to eligible Search and Performance Max campaigns. The feature is on by default.

Why this matters
This can save time during the festive season, but it can also show offers you did not plan to advertise, such as an old discount still mentioned on a page. Every advertiser should check their account settings.
Other Google Ads changes this month
- A/B testing for Performance Max asset groups arrived in October 2026. It is not on by default.
- AI Max now lets you preview up to 10 AI-written headlines and descriptions, with new reporting columns.
- Ads in AI Overviews now appear in 12 countries in English. There is no opt-out and no separate placement report.
- Search campaigns no longer have a language setting. Google picks the language from your ad and the searcher’s profile.
Meta update: turn static images into video
On the Meta side, generating video from static images is now generally available in Advantage+ creative. Some creative enhancements have appeared pre-selected, so review them before publishing.
Checklist for advertisers
- Open Google Ads and review Automated Promotions. Turn it off if you want full control.
- Remove expired offers from your website.
- Check AI-written headlines before they go live.
- Review Meta Advantage+ creative options before each campaign.
